1. Our Grocery Budget Plan.

Well here is my first update on how we are only going to spend $150/month on groceries. I decided to update you all on our plan and then at the end of November we will see how the first month went. (Because of a few trips we are taking we are going to be spreading this $150 over 1.5 months instead of just 1)

First off, we will be setting aside $20/month for bulk items we can buy at Sam’s every  three - six months. These items include things like flour, sugar, rice, almonds, cheese, pepperoni, canned tomatoes, etc. We will also use some of this for buying mass quantities of sale items. For example, we once bought 15 boxes of cereal for $1 each.

That leaves us with $120/month on regular meal planning. We will use half of that on our monthly Sam’s trip. For $60 we can get 5 lbs ground beef, 6 lbs chicken, 1.5 lbs of lunch meat, 2 gallons milk, and 12 mini pizzas. We use $4 of that $60 for bread. We buy bread from the dollar store.

Then with the remaining $60 we split it up over the 4 weeks. That gives us $15/wk for whatever is going into our meals. Vegetables, special spices, pasta, fruit, etc.

I am excited to see how this works and to update on how we are doing. I will say that we are already a week in and are doing great!
