Ok technically this was two weekends ago.
(This past weekend was spent hanging out with Daniel, celebrating his grandpa’s 89th birthday, and getting a wee bit sick. I used more than one box of tissues.)
BACKPACKING!!!
We took the youth group on our annual backpacking trip.

Yes, I realize that I look like one of the teens…
This year we went to Buffalo River in Arkansas. We arrived Friday night and set up camp. Then on Saturday we hiked about 4.5 miles to a beautiful campsite.

This was moments before I discovered that my new hiking boots are WATERPROOF. YAY.

If you are wondering why my backpack is so tiny compared to everyone else. I actually have a hip injury right now, so Daniel kindly carried the bulk of both of our gear so that I only had to carry some food and water.

We found a cabin and had lunch there. My young sister in law also fell through a floorboard. It was a REALLY old cabin.

This is the view from our campsite. We found a small beachy campsite and set up there. Those who were brave enough to face the freezing water had a nice swim and did some cliff jumping.
Our hike on Sunday was about 3 miles long and uphill the whole way. It was a pretty intense hike and I think the youth were wondering why they signed up for this trip during it. But it was so pretty and totally worth it!
