1. The Legend of the Tiger

Daniel still asks me what I am dreaming about before he leaves for work and writes my responses down for me to read when I wake up. Earlier this week I woke up to read this:

“You surprised me and Jason came to visit for Christmas. And he brought the tiger!”

Now, this may not seem significant to you. But you do not know what the tiger is! Here is the tiger:

This tiger lived on our house when we were growing up. When I was a child I LOVED the tiger. I eventually decided the tiger was mine and moved it into my bedroom where it remained until I graduated high school. I took the tiger with me to college, because after all it was MY tiger. We were having a grand ole time until Jason found out that I had taken the tiger. He started claiming that it was HIS tiger. I am not sure where he got this idea from because the tiger was clearly MINE.

The tiger is actually our Dad’s. Apparently our grandmother gifted it to our dad before either of us were born.  Ignoring that fact, Jason and I were still in a debate as to who the tiger belonged to. That is when our Dad stepped in. He thought it would be fun if Jason and I would steal the tiger from each other whenever we were visiting one another. And my Dad STOLE THE TIGER FROM ME. On the day of my graduation from OSU. HE STOLE IT! AND GAVE IT TO JASON!

I went to visit Jason and tried to find the tiger and steal it back but he had hidden it. It was nowhere to be found. I returned home tigerless. Then I went to visit him again and was determined to find the tiger. I tore his apartment apart. I looked in all the cabinets, drawers, closets, everywhere and could not find the tiger. Jason became annoyed and angry that I would steal the tiger back so he gave up and took it out of hiding and gave it to me. I had won.

The problem was Jason was upset about losing the tiger. All of this tiger stealing was making us vengeful. So we decided it would be better to give the tiger to one another when visiting each other rather than stealing it. So when the possessor of the tiger visits the other sibling they must present them with the tiger.

So I went outside and knocked on his door. When he opened it I was on one knee holding the tiger up as an offering to him above my head. He received the tiger that day in a peace offering. And the next time he comes to see me he must present it in the same way. The presenting of the tiger is to come before even saying hello to one another.

And in my dream, Jason brought me the tiger.

  2. Dream…

I mentioned awhile back that when Daniel leaves for work in the morning he asks me what I am dreaming about. Then he writes it down in this journal for me to read when I wake up.

    This was my response today:

“We were going to this place and there was this fake mirror that things could go in and out of. Except humans because our molecules are too big. The aliens were going in and out…”

“…I can’t reach the animal crackers, will you put them away?”

I could not stop laughing when I read that this morning. And no, we do not have any animal crackers in our house. Dreams are weird y’all.

  3. dreams

A few weeks ago Daniel decided it would be fun to ask me what I’m dreaming about whenever he leaves for work in the morning. I usually don’t wake up until a few hours later, so I generally have no recollection of these conversations. But, I thought it would be fun to share a few of them with all of you every once in a while.

    Things I have dreamt about:

    • I’m making pita chips right now.
    • I’m in the middle of eating a donut. It’s a maple long john from quiktrip. (When I woke up Daniel had actually gone and bought this exact donut and left it on the kitchen table with a note that said “I wanted to make your dreams come true.”
    • It’s too hard to explain… (apparently I say this 25% of the time with a painful look on my face)
    • The picture of how to get out of the trunk and the man running away in the trunk of the car.

    And last night…

“I was dreaming that I don’t know why we didn’t install a cd player on the PASSENGER side of the car!? You thought that was a great idea!”

.. Daniel typed that one for me to see on the computer this morning. Apparently I thought it would be awesome to have TWO cd playes in the car so the driver and passenger could listen to whatever music they wanted. The odd thing is that I don’t actually listen to music very often. Someone else has to turn it on for me to even realize it wasn’t on in the first place.
